As a national member of ABMF Sub-forum 2 (SF2), VSD’s delegation, headed by Mr. Duong Ngoc Tuan – Senior Managing Director, attended the 5th ABMF Meeting in Bali, Indonesia from 11 – 13 September 2011.

About 107 delegates including international and ASEAN+3 experts, speakers, observers from stock exchanges, central securities depositories, securities industry and financial market associations participated in this Meeting.

The objectives of the 5th Meeting is to present the highlights of draft ASEAN+3 market guides to members and experts, after endorsement, the draft will be submitted to the ABMI Task Force Meeting scheduled in October in Korea. Main topics of the Meeting include: Discussion on draft ASEAN+3 market guides; How to improve market monitoring and information supply chain in the region; Better infrastructure for data collection; European experience towards harmonization; SF1 and SF2 work plan. At the last step of Phase 1, the market guides will be finalized to further foster common understanding of regional market practices and provide recommendations on harmonization of regulations and effectively develop regional bond market.

Phase 2 starting from 2012 will focus on some main activities: publication of the market guide report on Asian Bond Online (ABO), first reporting of Phase 2 to Task Force 3 (TF3), holding ABMF meetings, conducting country visits…

On the sideline of the Meeting, VSD’s delegates met up with international and regional market participants to share experiences in Vietnam bond market development and potential of cross-border transaction in Vietnam.
