Issuing trading code for foreign investors

Foreign institutional and individual investors shall make registration for securities trading code with Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD) when investing in Vietnam Securities Market under the following forms:

- Buying, selling stocks, bonds and other securities listed on stock exchange, securities trading center or registered for transaction with securities companies;

- Buying, selling stocks and other securities unlisted on stock exchange, securities trading center or unregistered for transaction with securities companies;

- Taking part in auction to buy securities and shares at enterprises going public;

- Making a capital contribution to establish securities investment funds at a proportion for foreign investors as stipulated by the Prime Minister;

- Making a capital contribution to Vietnamese enterprises at a proportion for foreign investors as stipulated by the Prime Minister;

After making registration for securities trading code, foreign investors are allowed to open only one securities depository account and every entry for settlement shall be made through this account. For investors to be securities companies set up under foreign laws and insurance companies with 100% foreign capital, they are allowed to open two securities depository accounts as stipulated in the guidelines on securities registration, depository, clearing and settlement by Ministry of Finance.

If a foreign investor opens another securities depository account, he/she has to close the previous depository account and make transfer all the balance of this account to the new.

Designating, changing foreign investors’ depository members, securities companies at which investors open trading account, representatives for trading shall be approved in writing by VSD.

For other changes, foreign investors shall inform VSD through depository members within a maximum of 02 months since the changing date.
